Kurt Russell Has A Hilarious Response To Superman Casting Rumours
Superman: Legacy is a Superman reboot movie that is slated to hit the theatres in July 2025.

Superman: Legacy is one of the highly anticipated films of the DC Universe. By keeping the details of the project under wraps, the makers have truly left the fans turning and tossing with anticipation. Since October this year, rumours about Kurt Russell being part of the star cast of Superman: Legacy are making rounds on the internet. Fans have been speculating that the veteran Hollywood star has replaced Russell Crowe, with Marlon Brando to essay the role of Jor-El. Now, Kurt Russell has finally spilled the beans on the rumours. In a conversation with ComicBook, Kurt Russell candidly said, “Yeah! Yeah, I’ll take on Marlon Brando!” FYI: The veteran actor was referring to the Richard Donner Superman movie that was released in 1978 and featured Marlon Brando as Jor-El.

Another reason that reportedly added fuel to the rumours was the fact that Kurt Russell featured in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which was helmed by James Gunn, who will also be directing Superman: Legacy. Kurt Russell added, “I mean there was something awesome about the way he was just looking around – I don’t care that he was looking at his lines – he’s crazy-great to watch!” The actor revealed so far he hasn’t come across anything official as of now, however, believed that there is still a possibility to explore Jor-El’s character in a new way. Kurt Russell said, “You know what: we don’t know a lot about Jor-El. Maybe there’s a version… I never heard this, so I don’t know. James Gunn was a blast to work with, though, so you never know.”

For those who don’t know, Jor-El is Superman’s biological father. The character has been reimagined several times for different Superman movies and TV shows. Superman: Legacy is a Superman reboot movie. It was announced in January this year, just a month after Henry Cavill broke millions of hearts by revealing that he would no longer be portraying Superman. Henry informed the big news through a post on Instagram. He wrote, “I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it’s sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman. After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life.”

Henry Cavill made his first appearance as Superman in 2013’s Man of Steel and made his last cameo as Clark Kent in 2022’s Black Adam. In June this year, DCU announced that David Corenswet would be taking over the role of the superhero with Rachel Brosnahan playing Lois Lane. Written and directed by James Gunn, Superman: Legacy is slated to hit the theatres in July 2025.
