Taylor Swift Gives Golden Globes Host Death Stare After He Jokes About Travis Kelce Relationship

Comedian Jo Koy, who hosted the 81st edition of the Golden Globes 2024, unintentionally rubbed Taylor Swift the wrong way with a joke referencing her presence at NFL games supporting her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce. At the Los Angeles awards ceremony on January 7, where Swift’s concert film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour was a nominee, Koy, visibly nervous during his hosting, attempted to lighten the mood of the audience by teasing Swift about her NFL spotlight. As cameras shifted to the singer, the Grammy winner, who was seated among A-list stars like Miles Teller’s wife Keleigh and Emma Stone, seemed unimpressed, as she visibly gave him a death stare, pressed her lips and went on to take a sip from her drink.

During the monologue, Koy said, “As you know, we came after a big football double header, a big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? At the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift. I swear, there’s more to go here. Sorry about that.” While there were few laughs from the audience, later Swifties bashed the comedian for an unnecessary joke on Shake it Off crooner.

Despite Jo Koy’s joke at the Golden Globes 2024, Taylor Swift seemed to have a good time during the show. Though her concert film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, didn’t win, she was often spotted cheering enthusiastically for the winners in different categories. Swift reunited with her longtime friend and artist Selena Gomez.

Taylor and Travis Kelce were initially linked in September, as the singer was seen attending a Chiefs game in Kansas City. Since then, the pair has frequently appeared together, supporting each other at various events. Swift has been seen cheering for Kelce during Chiefs games, while Kelce has been showing his support by attending Swift’s record breaking Eras Tour. The two even spent Christmas and New Year’s Eve together. The singer even brought her family to Kelce’s game on Christmas Day, and the couple shared a kiss at midnight, marking the beginning of 2024.

Meanwhile, The Golden Globes host, Jo Koy began the show with a series of jokes aimed at various Hollywood stars, including Saltburn star Barry Keoghan and Robert De Niro. He even poked fun at Barbie, Oppenheimer and teased Bradley Cooper about his prosthetic nose in Maestro. However, most of the audience, including the celebrities at the Beverly Hills venue, didn’t seem impressed by Koy’s jokes. At one segment, Jo even blamed his writers for poor writing.
