The Australian cricket team will be aiming for a whitewash as they are set to face Pakistan in the third and final Test scheduled to start on Wednesday, January 3. The third Test match between Australia and Pakistan will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

The Aussies clinched a resounding 360-run victory in the Test series opener played at the Perth Stadium. The hosts carried forward the momentum and won the penultimate game by 79 runs. Chasing a total of 317, Pakistan did find themselves in a comfortable position at one point in the second innings of that game. The visitors, however, surrendered in front of a lethal Australia bowling attack, comprising big names like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon. Australia skipper Pat Cummins registered a five-wicket haul in the second innings to seal the series for his side.

Pakistan, on the other hand, decided to exclude Imam-ul-Haq and Shaheen Afridi from their playing XI for the third Test against Australia. Saim Ayub will be making his Test debut for Pakistan in the final fixture of the series. The 21-year-old had made his T20I debut in March last year.
