Delhi Liquor Scam Updates: NCP President Sharad Pawar told Congress that the party should have supported the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi

Delhi Liquor Scam Updates: Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, including Sanjay Singh, on Wednesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of offering Rs 20 crore to break away from the AAP and Rs 25 crore if they bring another member with them. Further, the AAP leaders said the saffron party threatened of consequences in terms of false cases such as the one slapped on Manish Sisodia.

The BJP on Wednesday alleged that the Delhi government ignored recommendations of an expert panel set up to reform liquor trade in the capital and gave licences to companies that paid “hefty commissions” to the Aam Aadmi Party. The saffron party alleged that the AAP government did not follow the suggestions of its own panel to “gain unfair advantage” in the Punjab polls.

Here are the latest updates in the Delhi liquor scam row:

-Sambit Patra said the AAP is now trying to deflect BJP’s questions on malpractices in the implementation of liquor policy. “Manish (Sisodia) ji, you may be the world’s best education minister, but you should immediately convene a press conference and answer what were you doing in your capacity as the excise minister? “Is it not true that you ignored the recommendations of the panel on retail and wholesale liquor business. On whose direction you did so?” Patra asked.

-Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta, who also addressed the news conference, said the AAP has failed to give direct and specific answers to questions posed by his party. Patra said the Delhi government handed over wholesale liquor business to private players despite the expert panel recommending against it.

– AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal has called a party meeting at 4 p.m. to discuss AAP MLAs being offered money to leave the party.

– Sanjay Singh accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of making efforts to bring AAP legislators into the BJP-fold “by hook or crook” and topple the Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi. The four AAP MLAs who have allegedly been approached by the BJP were also present at the press conference.

– The Aam Aadmi Party claimed on Wednesday that the BJP has approached four of its legislators in Delhi, asking them to switch sides and join the saffron party or else, face “false cases, the CBI and the ED”. Addressing a press conference here, AAP’s national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said the legislators — Ajay Dutt, Sanjeev Jha, Somnath Bharati and Kuldeep — have been approached by leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with whom they have “friendly relations”.

– Manish Sisodia attacked the government on alleged attack on police by liquor mafias in the state and said that the ED or the CBI won’t be used to probe corruption. He further said that those behind the liquor mafias are the ones who have filed false FIR and led CBI raids against me.

– NCP President Sharad Pawar told Congress that the party should have supported the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi. The NCP chief said that the Congress should have extended support to Manish Sisodia. This comes as Congress workers in Delhi staged protest and demanded the resignation of Sisodia.

– Manish Sisodia was also summoned by a court in Assam to appear in person before it on September 29 in a criminal defamation case filed by Himanta Biswa Sarma. The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Kamrup, Monmee Sarma, issued the summons to Sisodia for allegedly making defamatory statements against Sarma.

– After the Enforcement Directorate registered a money laundering case over the Delhi excise policy, the AAP on Tuesday said it had to happen as Sisodia rejected the BJP’s offer to join it to free himself from charges in the matter. Sisodia is ready to go behind bars but he would not “bow down” before the BJP, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) added.

– Manish Sisodia may be arrested in two to three days, CM Arvind Kejriwal said on Tuesday. Looking at the enthusiasm of the youth in Gujarat, it appears Sisodia may be arrested in two to three days instead of ten days he believed earlier, said Kejriwal, who is on a tour of the BJP-ruled state where Assembly polls are due by the year-end.
