G20 Summit: Traffic Curbs in Place, Schools Shut Today As Delhi to Host World Leaders | Details

Preparations to ensure a smooth and event-free G20 Summit scheduled to be held in the national capital on September 9-10 are underway on a war footing.

To ensure proper security during the mega geopolitical event, the Delhi Police has issued a series of restrictions on traffic movement that will be in place from September 7 to 10.

  • According to the Delhi Police, the traffic restrictions will go into effect at the Sirhaul border after midnight on September 7 and will last until midnight on September 10.
  • Heavy, medium and light goods vehicles will not be allowed to enter Delhi from 9 pm today till midnight on Sunday.
  • According to a notification issued by the Delhi government, the entire district will be considered a “Controlled Zone” from 5:00 am on September 8 till 11:59 pm on September 10. Only bona fide residents, authorised vehicles including vehicles involved in services like housekeeping, catering, waste management for hotels, and hospitals will be allowed to travel to India Gate, C-Hexagon and other such areas.
  • The movement of vehicles will be regulated in the Controlled Zone from 5:00 am on Friday till 11:59 pm on Sunday.
  • All food delivery, and commercial delivery services except medicines will be shut from Friday till Sunday. Deliveries from services like Swiggy, Zomato, Amazon and Flipkart will not be allowed in the controlled zone, but those of medicines and essential items will.
  • “Essential services such as postal and medical services, and sample collections by path labs will be allowed throughout Delhi. In the New Delhi area, commercial activities will not be allowed. Online delivery services will not be allowed but medicine delivery will be allowed,” Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) SS Yadav said.
  • Delhi Traffic Police advised the people of Delhi-NCR to follow ‘Mappls Mapmyindia App’ for any crucial information regarding the traffic, public transport routes towards the airport, railway stations, bus and metro stations ahead of the G20 Summit.

  • No TSRs (Three-Wheelers), auto rickshaws or taxis will be allowed to operate or enter the New Delhi District from 5:00 pm on September 9 to 23:50 pm on September 10.

Gurugram Issues WFH Advisory to Private Institutions for Friday

In view of the traffic restriction imposed in the New Delhi district due to to G20 summit scheduled in the national capital on September 9 and 10, the Gurugram district administration on Thursday issued a work-from-home advisory to corporate and private institutions for September 8.

“All corporate and private institutions were advised to instruct their employees to work from home on September 8 (Friday),” said District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav.
