Gujarat IT/ITeS Policy Aims To Increase Exports To Rs 25,000 Cr In 5 years
Gujarat has registered an annual growth of 14% in IT/ITeS exports in FY 21-22

To realise the vision of becoming one of India’s leading states with world-class IT infrastructure, marked by high-skilled resources and a conducive environment for innovation in emerging technologies, Government of Gujarat recently introduced the IT/ITeS Policy 2022-27.

Through this policy state envisions to create a pool of over 1 lakh job opportunities by increasing IT/ITeS exports with approximately Rs 25,000 crore in next 5 years.

The state is home to over 5,000 small, medium, and large ICT companies clustered mainly in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, and Surat, and has recorded an annual growth of 14% in IT/ITeS exports.

In the fiscal year 2021-22, Gujarat achieved approximately Rs 5000 crores in software exports through STPI (Software Technology Parks of India) registered units.

The Indian IT industry is consistently strengthening its digital capabilities by adopting innovative technologies and focusing on deploying emerging technology solutions such as AI, Cybersecurity, and IoT.

In state’s contribution to vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047, the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024 through its 11 International and 8 national roadshows and delegation visits engaged in a series of meetings with prominent global and national IT/ITeS companies.

The discussions centred around the State’s vision for the IT/ITeS sector and the myriad opportunities available within Gujarat.

Notable international companies from France, Japan, Australia, the USA, and Italy, along with leading Indian firms from Chennai, Bengaluru, and Chandigarh, have expressed keen interest in exploring investment opportunities in the state.

They have also shown intent to develop or expand Global Data Center businesses, extend support to startups, provide digital technology solutions, form strategic partnerships, and collaborate with contract research organisations and academia within Gujarat for developing IT-related infrastructure.

Some of the companies met during these visits include Thompson Computing and Partex NV from France, Trendmicro from Japan, INQ Innovation Global from Australia, and a host of companies from the USA, such as Beacon, Orgenetics, Precision Plastics Packaging Co, Bitscape, Inkovation, Ogoing, Careniva Inc, Corent Technology Inc, Techie- Patient Xpress, Insight Examination Services Inc, ATGC Group Inc, Rubrik, and Mexedia Net+ from Italy.

Follow-up discussions with various international and national companies are underway to set up additional large-scale projects in Gujarat.
