India will play their second game of the South Africa series on Tuesday. The visitors have looked sharp with a dominant victory in their opener.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise given that India had an unbeaten run to the World Cup 2023 final. Their only loss in their last 12 ODI games came against Australia in the title clash.

India have moved on from the world cup heartbreak and are eyeing an ODI series win in South Africa now.

In the first ODI, India bowlers started with a bang that saw Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan do most of the damage by picking up a whopping nine wickets between them.

In the second half, Ruturaj Gaikwad departed early but the match debutant Sai Sudharsan and the experienced Shreyas Iyer smashed half-century each to secure an eight-wicket victory for the Men in Blue.

The second ODI between India and South Africa will be played at the St George’s Oval in Gqeberha on December 19.

Having lost their opener in a humiliating way, South Africa will now be eager to bounce back and keep the series alive.

2nd ODI Pitch Report

St George Oval’s cricket pitch has its set of advantages for both pacers and spinners. The conditions will not be as quick as Johannesburg though.

Teams have crossed the 250-run mark only three times in the last five ODI games at this venue. Both the teams chasing and defending are almost neck-and-neck with 21 and 20 victories, respectively. The batting average in the first half is 233 considering the last six matches played at the venue.

2nd ODI Weather Report

Gqeberha is expected to remain generally clear on December 19 with a nine per cent chance of precipitation. Rainfall shouldn’t be a bother on the day with temperatures hovering around 24 degrees Celsius during the day which would drop down to 15 degrees Celsius in the night. Humidity is expected to stay between 64 per cent and 93 per cent. Winds will likely blow at speeds of 15 km/h to 30 km/h.
