'Stick to Your Decisions And be Brave': Wasim Akram's Advise to Mohammad Hafeez And Wahab Riaz
Wasim Akram advised the team director and chief selector to stick to their decisions and not hold press conferences frequently to justify their calls.

Legendary pacer Wasim Akram has advised the Pakistan cricket team director Mohammad Hafeez and chief selector Wahab Riaz to not hold the press conference frequently. After the dismal show in the ODI World Cup 2023, PCB made big changes in the selection committee and the coaching staff of the Pakistan cricket team. Former cricketers Hafeez and Wahab were appointed as the team director and chief selector to take the team forward.

The first assignment for the duo is going to be a tough challenge as they will take on the mighty Australia in the three-match Test series Down Under. After Babar Azam stepped down as the captain, it will be also Shan Masood’s first series as the Test skipper of the side.

Akram shared a video on his social media account and wished the Pakistan team ahead of the mega series.

“Pakistan team has reached Australia and I wish them all the best for the Test series. Mohammad Hafeez has joined the Pakistan Cricket Board as team director and Wahab Riaz has taken over as chief selector, Kamran Akmal and all others,” Akram said in the video.

The legendary paceman further advised the team director and chief selector to stick to their decisions and not hold press conferences frequently to justify their calls.

“These are present cricketers. This is their time and let’s give them at least one year to prove themselves. And one more advice, don’t hold press conferences every three minutes. Stick to your decisions and be brave,” Wasim said.

Following the World Cup where Pakistan lost five of their nine matches and finished fifth, the country’s cricket board overhauled the national team, with Babar Azam resigning as captain of all three formats.

Pakistan have performed poorly in Australia, however, losing 14 Tests on the trot with a last success in 1995.

The series starts with the first Test in Perth (December 14-18) followed by the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne (26-30) and Sydney (January 3-7).

Squad: Shan Masood (captain), Aamer Jamal, Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Imam-ul-Haq, Khurram Shahzad, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Wasim, Noman Ali, Saim Ayub, Agha Salman, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Saud Shakeel, Shaheen Shah Afridi
