The Meta-owned instant messaging application WhatsApp has released a new bug fix update that addresses a crash when replying to status updates.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on complying with new EU regulations by developing third-party chat support. Unfortunately, the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.19.8 update also introduced an issue when replying to status updates, and it appears that the problem was widespread the report said.
The screenshot shown in the report confirmed that the instant messaging app is crashing when replying to status updates, making it impossible for users to use this feature.
“Many users rely on this feature every day, even through status reactions, so we understand the inconvenience caused by the crash when attempting to reply to a status update.”
Restarting the device didn’t resolve the issue, so a new bug-fix update was needed to get a final solution. After installing the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.19.12 from the Google Play Store, WABetaInfo revealed that it is a bug-fix update that finally addresses the mentioned issue and restored the ability to react to status updates, which means that you can finally start replying to status updates without experiencing this bug.
The fix is rolling out after installing the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.19.12 update from the Google Play Store. Make sure to install this build in order to use a version of WhatsApp without experiencing the bug.
In related news, WhatsApp is also rolling out a feature to swipe between tabs again. With this interface, the app aims to better align the app with the latest standards of Material Design 3, providing users with the best modern interface.
The feature to allow users to switch to a different tab by using the swipe gesture may finally be available again after installing the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.19.10 update from the Google Play Store.
