Dog Owner Gets Into Argument With Woman Over Using Lift, Internet Is Taking Sides

A video of a dog owner arguing with a resident outside a lift in a Greater Noida housing estate has gone viral on social media. The video shared on X sparked a renewed debate over the behaviour of pet owners. A user under the name of Greater Noida West shared the video of the incident that reportedly occurred at Gaur City 7th Avenue. The dispute erupted after a man was denied access to the lift with his pet dog as a child was already inside the lift, reportedly screaming because he was too afraid to ride with the dog.

In the video, the man is seen arguing with both the resident and the security guard. The man stated, “Woh darr raha hai toh bahar aajaye, main wait karu uske liye (if he is scared, he should exit the lift, why should I wait for him).” A woman, who appeared to be the child’s guardian, stopped him from using the elevator. Instead, she requested that he take the other one because the child was already inside and afraid of his pet. The woman said, “Agar woh dog se darr raha hai toh it is your duty ke aap bahar wait karein use upar jane de aur aap dusri lift use kijiye (if the child is scared of your dog, it is your duty to wait outside and let him go first and take the other lift).”

However, the dog owner argued his dog was in chains and wearing a muzzle. Further, he said that if the child has a problem with the pet, he should be the one leaving the lift. The argument escalates as the woman repeatedly asks the man for his flat number, which he refuses to reveal and leaves the scene taking the other lift.

Netizens were quite outraged by the incident. One user replied, “Rules for dog owners must be there. They may not fear dogs, but many of us do fear dogs. I dont have any hate for dogs but if someone is uncomfortable then other person should consider rules keeping in mind humanity! Today a dog’s value is more than the respect for other person,” while another one said, “Humanity is dying everyday, people are not ready to understand the situation of others, kid was weeping and he is still trying to enter the lift, why can’t he wait until lift returns back.”

Some also expressed that they felt bad for the dog due to the owner’s behaviour. “I don’t know why but I feel sorry for the dog to bear the owner all it’s life.. dog deserves a more empathetic owner,” wrote one user.
