AGP forms panel to hold post-poll alliance talks
Mahanta claimed the post-poll analysis by media, social experts gave indications that AGP will secure the mandate.

Guwahati: The opposition AGP has formed a four-member committee led by working president Phanibhusan Choudhury to have talks with other parties, including BJP, in the event of the party reaching a favourable position to form a coalition government after May 13 results.

While Choudhury would chair the committee, senior leaders Birendra Prasad Baishya, Hitendra Goswami and Padma Hazarika will be the other members who will steer discussions, AGP president Chandra Mohan Patowary told reporters in Guwahati.

Predicting that the Congress will get around 31 seats in the 126-member Assembly, Patowary said, "Their loss will be our gain. If Congress wins more than 40 seats this time then it will be a landmark in Indian political history."

AGP leader and former Assam Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta asserted also that the AGP will secure the mandate to form a clean and corruption-free government in alliance with the ASDC, BPPF, Gana Sakti and UPDF.

Mahanta claimed the post-poll analysis by media, political, social experts besides intellegence reports gave indications to such outcome.
