Lucknow: It was a happy ending for Uttar Pradesh's most powerful minister Azam Khan as his seven pet buffaloes were finally back home 24 hours after they went missing from his farmhouse in Rampur. Some BJP leaders sarcastically said that the bovine beauties had probably ventured off to hear party's prime ministerial candiadte Narendra Modi speak in Meerut.
Party leader Siddharth Nath Singh attacked Azam saying, "When Azam Khan's buffaloes are stolen arrests are made, action is taken, but when riots happen in the state no action is taken."
But, the police is pretty sure that it was an act of a deadly gang. Rampur SP, Sadhna Goswami said, "It was an act of a deadly gang."
The case of the missing buffaloes had sent the Rampur Police in a tizzy the whole of sunday. Three special teams including the crime branch and a squad of sniffer dogs were pressed into action. Three police officials also faced transfer due to the incident.
However, the case was cracked in 24 hours which is a rarity for Uttar Pradesh.
