New Delhi: The day Election Commission announced Lok Sabha election dates, Aam Aadmi Party and Bharatiya Janata Party workers clashed with each other in Delhi, Lucknow and Gujarat.The clash took place after AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal was detained in Patan district of Gujarat and prevented from holding a rally.
There were reports that the BJP workers broke the glass of Kejriwal's car but the leader was not in his car at the time of attack. The Gujarat DGP said, "Arvind Kejriwal convoy was not attacked in Gujarat. He is coming to Ahmedabad."
Meanwhile, Arvind Kejriwal asked people not to indulgence in violence. He tweeted, "I urge all volunteers not to raise their hand and to stay calm and non-violent. You should be prepared to lay down your life but never raise hand."
BJP leader Jay Narayan Vyas said, "Kejriwal was withheld, given some directions and then allowed to go soon after. The people should know what the AAP is made of."
While the BJP is maintaining that AAP workers indulged in the fight, AAP members said that there were protesting peacefully. "AAP has the right to protest peacefully. Several of our workers have been admitted to hospital," AAP leader Ashutosh said confirming that at least 24 persons were injured in the attack in Delhi.
