Budget lackadaisical: BJD
BJD has termed the Budget anti-poor and anti-farmer.

New Delhi: Terming the Budget as "anti-poor, anti-farmer with nothing for Orissa" the Biju Janata Dal on Monday said it has failed to touch the common man in general.

Talking to the media, senior BJD leader Prassana Patsani said in a agricultural country like India, where water is a high-priority commodity, acute shortage of water had been left unaddressed.

"No provision has been made for water conservation in the Budget nor any effort spelled out to conserve it, despite agriculture being on short fuse in these times of drought."

Pointing out that nothing has been doled out for the people engaged in farming, who constitute nearly 60 per cent of the populace, he added reduction in one per cent interest rate will have no impact on their economic status or deteriorating life support system.

"I am deeply hurt that nothing has been given to Orissa also which is a backward state."

What's your reaction?
