Digvijaya said a commonly used phrase used for praising a person is being labelled sexist.

New Delhi: Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh on Saturday hit back at those who are calling his statement on the party leader Meenakshi Natrajan a sexist remark. He took on to Twitter to clarify his statement and even posted Youtube link of his speech.

In a tweet, he clarified that he did not disrespect Meenakshi Natrajan but praised her. "100 Tanch means 100 per cent Pure. And media calls it Sexist! For a change they should so some introspection instead of gunning for Politicians," he said on Twitter.

He also hit at media and said media is running for its TRP rating. "In its race for TRP rating Media is running amok. A commonly used phrase used for praising a person is being labelled sexist! Deplorable," he added.

Digvijaya had made a sexist comment against Mandsaur MP Meenakshi Natarajan calling her a 'Sau Taka Tunch Maal' while addressing a rally in Madhya Pradesh.

However, Meenakshi took no offence to Digvijaya's remark and had said "his statement has to be looked in complete perspective. He has appreciated my work. I am not offended with his statement."
