'I Made INDIA Bloc, TMC Will Be In Alliance': Mamata Banerjee Takes U-turn On 'Outside Support' Remark
Banerjee, whose Trinamool Congress had decided to fight the Lok Sabha elections alone in the state after seat-sharing issues with the INDIA bloc, has earlier said she will “provide outside support” to the opposition front if the BJP loses

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday clarified that she made the INDIA bloc and she will be part of alliance if it forms the government at the Centre, ousting the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

“A lot of people misunderstood me. We will be in INDIA alliance. I made INDIA alliance,” Banerjee said.

Banerjee, whose Trinamool Congress had decided to fight the Lok Sabha elections alone in the state after seat-sharing issues with the INDIA bloc, has earlier said she will “provide outside support” to the opposition front if the BJP loses.

According to a report published by ABP, her strong statement comes amid speculation that she may be considered as the prime ministerial candidate, if the opposition comes to power.

Banerjee made it clear that the alliance was a no-go in the state while saying the Congress-CPM were indirectly backing the BJP. But, she said, when it comes to Delhi, the TMC will provide leadership to the INDIA bloc and help it every way from the outside.

Adhir Takes On Mamata

Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury took a jibe at the Trinamool Congress supremo, saying she left the alliance earlier and now she can join hands with the BJP. His remark came in response of Mamata’s comment on Wednesday in which she announced to support INDIA bloc from outside if it wins Lok Sabha elections.

The Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha said that the TMC leader’s remark indicate that the Congress party and the INDIA alliance are coming to power.

“I don’t trust her. She left the alliance and ran away. She can also go towards the BJP… They were talking about destroying the Congress party and that Congress would not get more than 40 seats but now she is saying that it means that the Congress party and the alliance are coming to power,” Chowdhury told ANI.
