KCR's Schemes For Rural Telangana as Agenda For His Federal Front Attracts Centre's Attention
KCR, while describing his proposed front, had said, 'The federal front is not an alignment of the parties, it is an alignment of the people.'

Hyderabad: Ever since Telangana Chief Minister and TRS supremo K Chandrashekar Rao stormed back to power in the state he has been busy meeting political leaders for building a federal front ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

He has already met SP president Akhilesh Yadav, West Bengal CM and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee, Odisha CM and BJD leader Naveen Patnaik, former PM HD Deve Gouda and DMK president MK Stalin. None have yet made their stand clear on the possible political alignments.

While discussions are underway, questions arise on what will be KCR’s agenda? “Of course, being a political party, KCR may have political aspirations. But there is a strong people centric agenda too. That agenda is attracting political leaders and is creating the foundation for a new front,” Hyderabad-based political analyst Dr Venu Gopal Reddy told News18.

KCR, while describing his proposed front, had said, “The federal front is not an alignment of the parties, it is an alignment of the people.”

Though KCR has said the front would offer an alternative to the BJP and the Congress in the Centre, opposition leaders especially the Congress have described the front as a B-team to help the BJP and PM Narendra Modi.

“We might come up with an agenda in another 15 days. We are meeting several experts from different sectors to prepare the agenda. The country needs new economic and agricultural models as the present system will not work any longer,” Rao said recently. These two issues have helped TRS cement its return to power.

In his state, KCR is working to make agriculture cover spread across one crore acres of land in Telangana. To ensure water, he has started irrigation projects like Kaleswaram.

To stop farmer suicides, the Telangana government has introduced an agriculture investment support scheme-Raitu Bandhu. In this scheme, four thousand rupees is given to the farmer per acre. The Raitu Beema insurance gives a farmer life cover up to five lakh rupees. Showcasing these projects, KCR wants to build an agenda for federal front and might pitch them as federal front promises for the Parliamentary elections. According to reports, Modi government has taken a cue from Telangana on the Rythu Bandhu scheme, and has also got in touch with the state government seeking details.

KCR’s plan to develop rural Telangana might be pitched as a national model. The scheme of distributing modern tools to people as per their caste occupations is helping financial development of the individual and the rural Telangana. This is his new economic model which, according to sources, he has presented to the leaders as the federal front agenda.

KCR wants to replicate Telangana development model in the country and is meeting with subject experts and retired professionals for the same. “Our politics is not for political gains, it is for people’s gain. Our agenda is very simple – for the people and by the people which is the real spirit of democracy,” said Sheri Subhash Reddy, political secretary for KCR and Telangana State Mineral Development Corporation chairman to News 18.
