New Delhi: It's kith and kin galore in the second list of Congress for Goa polls announced on Tuesday, days after the selection of first batch of candidates sparked off a virtual rebellion in the state unit.
The list of seven candidates announced by Congress has the names of Uday D Palekar, Jennifer Monserrate, Pandurang Arjun, Madkalkar Dhaku A Madkaiker, Ritesh Ravi Naik, Alexio Reginaldo Lourenco and Valenka Alemao from Siolim, Taleigao, Cumbarjua, Priol, Marcalm, Curtorim and Benaulim Assembly seats respectively.
Of this Jennifer Monserrate is the wife of Education Minister Atanasio alias Babush Monserrate, whose name was announced in the first list. Taleigao seat was earlier represented by Babush thrice and he will this time contest from Santa Cruz.
Ritesh Ravi Naik is the son of Goa Home Minister Ravi Naik while Valanka is the daughter of the senior cabinet minister in Goa Churchill.
Valanka was earlier barred from contesting the Youth Congress elections after she was found to have violated the code of conduct by taking the help of senior party leaders for electoral gains.
Pandurang Arjun Madkaikar and Dhaku A Madkaikar contesting from Cumbarjua and Priol assembly seats are brothers.
The party had earlier announced the names of candidates for 22 assembly seats on February 4 in which Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, Assembly Speaker Pratapsinh Rane and PCC chief Subhash Shirodkar figured.
The list has sparked off a virtual rebellion in the party state unit as the aspirants who were denied tickets decided to part ways with the organisation.
