New Delhi: Senior BJP leader Vijendar Gupta on Friday alleged that the Additional Public Prosecutor who was scrutinising the charge sheet in the Rs 100 crore Transport scam was removed by Delhi government under "political pressure" and demanded a judicial probe into the removal.
"Lt Governor has been apprised that it is a clear cut case of political interference in judicial work and demanded judicial probe in it," said Gupta who is also Leader of Opposition in Delhi Legislative Assembly.
Alleging that AAP government was adopting "double standards" regarding corruption cases, Gupta said that Additional Public Prosecutor Pramod Kumar Sharma paid the price for being an "honest officer."
Sharma who had complained of pressure from Delhi government officials while he was scrutinising the charge sheet in Rs 100-crore transport scam, was transferred citing "administrative exigencies" by Director of Prosecution Pankaj Sandhi, on September 8.
Sharma, who was also the officiating chief prosecutor, was posted as a prosecutor in the court of Special Judge, ACB, Poonam Chaudhry at Tis Hazari Court, has been transferred to the office of Principal, Police Training Centre at Jharoda Kalan.
The Delhi government had denied Sharma's charges saying it was "a cover up attempt by an illegally-imposed ACB chief appointed by the Lt Governor."
Reacting to his transfer, Sharma said he is being "troubled by the government because he complained against their officials."
