New Delhi: The battle for Bihar is getting intense everyday. In a strong reply to JDU-RJD-Congress's mega Swabhiman rally, Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Sunday called it opportunism, corruption, crime and family politics.
"This was not Swabhiman rally but an apmaan rally. There were not many people in the ground. Nitish could not do a rally alone but along with Lalu and Sonia, he could not manage crowd. It was a rally of family politics, opportunism corruption and crime," Prasad said.
Launching a scathing attack on Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Prasad said, "Sonia called Lalu regime as development years. This is an insult of Bihar. Nitish himself claimed that good governance started from 2005. Sonia should have expressed her views on fodder scam. Not even a single university has come to Bihar. Nitish and Sonia both gave a certificate to Lalu era but Lalu did not speak a word of appreciation for Nitish. Sonia is in a supporting role, Nitish is the face and Lalu is in the lead role."
Training guns against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Prasad said, "There has been a significant rise in crime in Bihar and reduction in investments in last couple of years. Today as a Bihari I'm distressed and feeling shamed as Nitish compared himself to Chandragupta Maurya."
Upping the ante against the Narendra Modi government, JDU, RJD and Congress attacked the BJP-led regime for not fulfilling its poll promises. "Modi has not given a new package of Rs 1.25 lakh crore. It's just a repackaging of old schemes," Nitish said in the rally.
In a show of strength, the stage was shared by Janata Dal United leader Nitish, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Lalu Prasad, Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Yadav and senior leaders of all the four parties.
