At 4:51 pm: TMC candidate late Kajal Sinha continues to maintain the lead with 13, 471 votes in the Khardaha assembly constituency. The counting is still in progress.

At 3:15 pm, TMC candidate late Kajal Sinha was leading by over 9,000 votes in Khardaha assembly constituency

Sinha, who had tested positive for Covid-19, died at a hospital last week. He was found to have contracted the viral disease a day after polling in his constituency following which he was admitted to Beliaghata ID hospital. He was pitted against BJP?s Silbhadra Datta.

Sinha was leading by over 7,000 votes in Khardaha assembly constituency at 1 pm.

This General Assembly constituency has an estimated Scheduled Caste population of 13.04%. The estimated literacy level of the district in which this constituency falls in is 84.95%.

In the 2021 elections, there were a total of 2,32,348 eligible electors, of which 1,16,144 were male, 1,16,197 female and 7 registered voters were of the third gender.

In 2011, Amit Mitra of TMC won in this seat defeating Asim Kumar Dasgupta of CPIM by a margin of 26,154 votes which was 17.67% of the total votes polled in the constituency. TMC had a vote share of 56.49% in 2011 in the seat.
