Walking leisurely on his wedding anniversary day, Mohol turned back and found a man who first opened fire at point-blank range. Another person shot him seemingly on his shoulder. The gangster fell on the road, while his neighbours reached the spot to rush him to the hospital. He died during treatment at a private hospital in Kothrud, the official added.

CASES AGAINST MOHOL

Mohol was at the center of multiple cases, including murder and dacoity. He was charged in this case about the killing of alleged Indian Mujahideen agent Mohammad Qateel Siddiqui inside the Yerawada jail, however he was found not guilty.

The official stated that his death is believed to have been caused by a fight inside his gang over territory and money. Devendra Fadnavis, the home minister and deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, stated that since Mohol was slain by his own gang members, it was not a gang war.

“As our government knows how to deal with such notorious elements, no one dares to get involved in a gang war,” he said. Nine teams were formed as part of the probe, the police official informed.
