The Wife, a horror film starring Gurmeet Choudhary and Sayani Datta has premiered on ZEE5. The film revolves around a couple Varun and Arya who move to a new house and are planning a fresh start to their married life. But their life turns haywire when a haunting spirit starts commanding the house. From their first few moments in the house, they begin experiencing creepy happenings. Arya notices these and informs Varun. He, even though has not noticed any happenings consciously, does get nightmares of a scary presence in the house. With an engaging plot and well-built story The Wife is worth a dekko for fans of horror films.
The Illegal (Amazon Prime Video)
Written and Directed by Danish Renzu, The Illegal brings to fore the downside of the Great American Dream. The film mirrors the harsh realities of the young migrants who journey to America in search of a better life, but end up struggling to make the ends meet. The struggles and triumphs of the migrant is aptly projected by actor Suraj Sharma (Life of Pi, Phillauri), who takes this narrative forward effortlessly. He is joined by Hannah Masi, Shweta Tripathi, Iqbal Theba, Jay Ali, Adil Hussain, Danny Vasquez, and Neelima Azim, who play pivotal roles in the film which is all set to stream on Amazon Prime Video from March 23.
Sky Rojo (Netflix)
Álex Pina, the creator of the global phenomenon Money Heist, is back at it with his latest creation, Sky Rojo. Three former ladies of night engage in a game of cat and mouse as they attempt to run away from their former pimp. According to the creators, the Spanish series shows “the impunity, ambiguity and brutal reality of prostitution, and the psychological portraits of those on both sides of the scale”. Pina didn’t find success with his crime-mystery White Lines in 2020, but Sky Rojo is confirmed for a second season.
Breeders S2 (Disney+ Hotstar)
Time has moved on in Season 2 of Breeders, the comedy series starring Martin Freeman and Daisy Haggard that explores the parental paradox that you’d happily die for your children, but quite often also want to kill them. “Luke” (Alex Eastwood) is now 13 years old and “Ava” (Eve Prenelle) is 10, serving up brand new parenting challenges for “Paul” (Martin Freeman) and “Ally” (Daisy Haggard). Luke’s increasing anxiety and Ava’s growing independence add some new and uncharted complications into the existing chaotic mix of stretched resources, lack of time and the fine art of winging it while looking like you know what you’re doing. Breeders Season 2 is out on March 23.
