Airtel, Vodafone, Internet Services Hit by Cyclone Vardah

If you are witnessing slow internet speeds suddenly, blame Cyclone Vardah even if you are sitting thousands of miles away from the impacted area. Airtel, Vodafone among other internet service providers have been hit by Cyclone Vardah as undersea optic fibre cable network took the direct hit. The storm, the most intense to have hit Chennai in two decades, pounded Chennai, Tiruvallur and Kanchipuram districts with heavy rain.

Thousands of people were evacuated as roaring wind clocking speed of 100kmph uprooted trees, tore off hoardings and toppled cars.

“The cyclone in Chennai has impacted one of our undersea network cables which may affect your internet speeds,” Airtel announced.
