Amazon has been in the tablet business for many years with the Fire HD lineup and the brand has come out with new models after some time. The Fire HD 8 tablet series gets three variants, and two of them are targeted at the kids. Amazon also brings Gen AI tools to these devices without clearly talking about which AI model that is powering them.

The Fire HD 8 tablet with AI features is priced at $54.99 (Rs 4,565 approx) for the 32GB model and $84.99 (Rs 7,055 approx) for the 64GB variant.

Being a tablet, the Fire HD 8 has the basics covered with an 8-inch HD display, powered by a hexa-core chipset available with up to 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Amazon says the tablet offers 13 hours of battery life but the most intriguing part about the Fire HD 8 has a slew of generative AI features like writing assistant that works on mails and even social media apps.
These tablets run on Amazon’s custom Android version which means you don’t get the Play Store on them.
The brand will also support web page summaries through its Silver browser. And yes, having AI tech means you have the option to create wallpapers using text prompt. Amazon has been quite behind in the AI race, but we don’t think the company will be using Google or OpenAI’s AI tools to power its device.
The tablet market has definitely picked up in the last few quarters and the entry of brands like OnePlus and Xiaomi help push the segment to a wider audience. Amazon will be hoping that parents find value in these AI-powered Fire HD tablets and pick them up this holiday season.
