Android 15 is yet to hit the shelves even though Google has released the new Pixel 9 series in the market. But the wait for the new version is getting closer as the company puts the finishing touches to the final stable version that will most likely come to Pixel devices in the next few weeks. Google has informed that the Android 15 AOSP or Android Open Source Project build is available, which means other brands can start working on their respective Android iterations.
Android 15 AOSP Now Available: What It Means
The Android 15 AOSP is a sign that Google is happy with the progress made by the new version and its stability which makes it run on a wide range of devices. Stable releases are essential for a public roll out, especially when you have the Pixel 9 devices at stake. The interface for Android 15 is unlikely to see major changes from 14 and that has become evident over the last few months, starting from the Android 15 Developer Preview version.
Pixel users can expect the Android 15 OTA update to hit their devices by early October, right in line with the usual Pixel launch timeline, except this year Google did that a lot earlier. Features wise, Android 15 will offer easier logins through passkeys, users get their own private space to keep confidential data, and the option to save split-screen modes for their accounts.
Pixel Users Get Big Security Update
In the meanwhile, Google has finally issued a fix for the vulnerability via its September 2024 update for the eligible Pixel devices, including the new Pixel 9 series models.
Google Pixel devices have faced major threat because of an apk vulnerability that would easily allow hackers to bypass the stringent security of the device and surveil their activities like calls, messages and more.
The issue is widespread and reportedly the company has so far stayed away from working on a fix for it, which has finally been done. The Pixel update is rolling out now and will be available as an over the air (OTA) update for the eligible Pixel devices over the next few weeks.
