Apple has been forced into making changes to the iPhones recently, most notably the addition of USB-C charging for the device. But soon, we could see the company making another big alteration to its product design. According to reports this week, the iPhone 17 series in 2025 could offer an easier route to replace the batteries.
Apple has faced tough rules in the European region thanks to the new tech changes, which looks to make iPhones easier to repair and one of them looks at the ability to easily change the battery. The Information report suggests Apple will be complying with these rules for 2025 and many expect the iPhone 17 series to be the first to get the overhauled process.
The existing system to remove the battery from an iPhone has been designed in such a way that people are not able to change it easily. But the new rules mean Apple will be forced to do just that.
The report claims Apple will have a mechanism that lets you pop out the battery but through an electrical jolt. By the looks of it, Apple is not going to make it any easier, but we are hopeful that the actual change is far more drastic but user-friendly.
Removing batteries was easier with smartphones a long time back but the unibody approach means all the components are packed inside. The EU wants to bring the hold habits back and Apple is likely to comply one way or the other with these rules by next year.
Till then, the world will be waiting for the iPhone 16 series launch this year, which promises an AI-heavy focus thanks to iOS 18 and the new A18 chipset that will bring new features to the devices.
