Apple Teases 'Home' App to Control Connected Devices
The Home app offers instant control to any device, be it a smart light or intelligent door lock, that is compatible with HomeKit, Apple's nascent IoT platform.

Two years after Apple first started developing a platform for the Internet of Things, the company now has a single app called ‘Home' that can control a myriad of connected devices.

Announced and demonstrated for the first time by Apple's senior VP of software engineering, Craig Federighi, the Home app offers instant control to any device, be it a smart light or intelligent door lock, that is compatible with HomeKit, Apple's nascent IoT platform.

Devices can be controlled individually, or grouped together and there are options for default settings such as when arriving home at night or going to bed.

The app works within the iPhone and iPad's lock screen for increased simplicity and is also compatible with the Apple Watch.
