The Asus ROG Phone 5 comes in Phantom Black and Storm White colour variants and has an AnimeMatrix design which is made of tiny LED lights. The same design also features in the latest Asus ROG line of gaming laptops.

Asus has launched its next-generation Asus ROG Phone 5 gaming smartphone series that includes the vanilla ROG Phone 5, Asus ROG Phone 5 Pro, and the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate. All three models feature the same specifications, though they differ in terms of RAM configuration and onboard storage. The Asus ROG Phone 5 series also packs the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC and 144Hz display. Asus claims that the latest ROG device is the first to feature 18GB of RAM; however, its competitor Nubia recently launched the Red Magic 6 Transparent Edition that also packs the same RAM configuration.

The vanilla Asus ROG Phone 5 comes in  India in two options of 8GB RAM + 128GB and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage for Rs 49,999 and Rs 57,999 respectively. The phone will go on sale via Flipkart and other partner channels on April 15 at 12 PM (noon) IST. The Asus ROG Phone 5 Pro that packs 16GB RAM and 512GB storage costs Rs 69,999, and the Asus ROG Phone Ultimate with 18GB RAM + 512GB storage carries a price tag of RS 79,999. The availability details of the pro and ultimate editions remain unclear.

The gaming smartphone comes in Phantom Black and Storm White colour variants and has an AnimeMatrix design which is made of tiny LED lights. The same design also features in the latest Asus ROG line of gaming laptops. In terms of specifications, the vanilla Asus ROG Phone 5 sports a 6.78-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,448 pixels) AMOLED display with a 20.4:9 aspect ratio and 144Hz refresh rate. Under the hood it packs, the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor paired with Adreno 660 GPU, LPDDR5 RAM, and UFS 3.1 storage. The gaming phone also supports 5G and runs on Android 11 with both ROG UI and ZenUI custom interface.

Its display panel is protected by the latest-gen Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. The triple rear camera setup on the Asus ROG Phone 5 includes a 64-megapixel primary camera with f/1.8 aperture, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.4 aperture, and a 5-megapixel macro shooter. For selfies, there’s a 24-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.45 aperture inside the hole-punch cutout. Other notable features include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, two USB Type-C ports, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Similar to the predecessor ROG Phone 3, the new smartphone comes with AirTrigger 5, dual front-firing speakers, and multi-antenna Wi-Fi.

As mentioned, features on the Asus ROG Phone 5 Pro and Asus ROG Phone 5 Ultimate are the same except for differences in RAM configuration. Pro model has ROG Vision colour PMOLED display while the Ultimate model features a ROG Vision monochrome PMOLED display. The PMOLED display on both ROG Phone models supports customisable graphics. The dual-cell battery on the three devices supports 65W fast charging.
