Rockstar Games, the developer of the popular Grand Theft Auto series, launched the trailer for its upcoming game, GTA 6, yesterday. The trailer was released earlier than scheduled due to an unforeseen leak. Since then, it has crossed 95 million views, and is closing down on 100 million.
This means that it has surpassed popular YouTuber Mr Beast’s record for the most-watched non-music video on the platform within 24 hours of its release. This certainly cements GTA 6’s status as the most anticipated game ever.
Mr Beast took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to acknowledge the same. “The GTA 6 trailer just broke our record for most views on YouTube in 24 hours,” he posted.

It has been confirmed by the trailer and numerous leaks preceding it that GTA 6 will be set in Leonida, with Vice City as its primary setting. Vice City is Rockstar Games’ fictional representation of Miami, Florida. However, bits from the trailer also indicate that Leonida will feature additional areas such as swamps and other Florida-inspired locations.
The game will feature a female protagonist for the first time in the series’ history, Lucia. The other protagonist is Jason, who is said to be in a relationship with Lucia. Some have compared the two to Bonnie and Clyde.
Furthermore, the game will only be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. This means that it will skip the previous generation of consoles. A PC version has not been announced, but as is typical of Rockstar releases, it will likely follow suit a year or two later.
