Will Your Samsung Washing Machine Explode? Here's How to Check
Only Samsung top-load washing machines are affected.

While Samsung is busy firefighting its Galaxy Note 7 battery explosion incidents globally, reports of Samsung washing machines “exploding into pieces” have added to their PR nightmares.

As weird as it might sound, certain top-load washing machines made by Samsung might cause trouble if you are washing heavy items like bedding.

No one expects washing machines to explode all of a sudden. Even Samsung in their official communications chose to use words like “abnormal vibrations that could pose a risk of personal injury”.

While chances are rare, but if Samsung is working closely with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission “on a remedy for affected consumers”, indicates that the reported incidents of “exploding washing machines” are real.

So, if you are using a Samsung top-load washing machine, here is how you can check whether you are safe or not.

Samsung has dedicated a portal to verify the serial number of affected washing machines. Visit this website to check.

Note that only top-load washing machines are affected. If you are using a front load washer, then you are safe, claims Samsung.

The issue seems to affect consumers in the US only, for now.

Samsung is recommending that consumers with affected models use the lower speed delicate cycle when washing bedding, bulky or water-resistant materials. There have been no reported incidents when using this cycle.

What's your reaction?
