Actress Shefali Jariwala, fondly remembered as the ‘Kaanta Laga’ girl, recently went on a spiritual journey as she paid a visit to the holy Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. The actress took to her social media handle and shared glimpses from her pilgrimage. From taking part in the Bhasma Aarti to offering prayers along with hundreds of devotees, Shefali immersed herself in the devotion of Mahakal. “Jai Mahakal! 2nd Jyotirlinga, Mahakaleshwar darshan at Ujjain on my bucket list. We attended The Magnificent Bhasma Aarti,” she wrote on Instagram.

In the pictures shared on Shefali’s Instagram, the actress can be seen dressed in a traditional outfit with an orange angvastra (cloth) around her neck. While the first one shows her posing in front of the Mahakaleshwar temple, another one is from inside the temple as she shares a frame with a priest. She also shared a series of pictures of the deity and another one with her team.

In her detailed note, Shefali spoke about the significance of the Bhasma Aarti and wrote, “In the early hours of the morning, before the world awakens, the Lord is ceremonially “awakened” with the Bhasma Arti, a ritual using sacred ash. The ceremony begins with bathing the Shivalinga with a mix of water, milk, honey, and curd. The linga is then adorned with sandalwood and turmeric paste, decorated with bael leaves and fragrant flowers, setting the stage for the first Aarti of the day. The Bhasma Arti at Mahakaleshwar Temple follows an age-old tradition, captivating our hearts as we witness this divine spectacle.”

Sharing her experience of witnessing the ritual, she called it “deeply moving and overwhelming.” “We all felt an extraordinary spiritual connection as the divine light (Jyoti) emanated from the linga during this sacred ceremony. The calming divine ambience transported us to a realm of pure devotion. As we embark on this spiritual journey, to seek spiritual enlightenment and experience divine energies … looking forward to being left spellbound again and strengthen my connection with my god,” the actress concluded.

Prior to this, Shefali shared glimpses of her journey to Ujjain on her Instagram stories.
