Vineet Raina Quits Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Says His Character Didn't Have Enough Screen Time

Few modern Indian television series manage to capture the attention of the viewers for a long time, and one such show is Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. It is one of the longest running TV shows which has managed to keep the audience hooked with its interesting plots and compelling characters. The show is currently led by Samridhii Shukla, Rohit Purohit and Garvita Sadhwani. But apart from their character dynamics, other characters also resonated well with the audience. Popular actor Vineet Raina was seen on the show as Dev Shekhawat but now, he has decided to leave the show.

Vineet Raina openly expressed his dissatisfaction with his character, and after reaching an agreement with the production team, he has decided to leave the show. He told ETimes, “When the role of Dev Shekhawat was narrated to me, it was interesting and it did find a connection with the masses. However, not much screen space was being given to it and the track needed to be worked upon. I am not sure what were the reasons for not enough screen space for Dev Shekhawat.”

The actor added that due to his strong relationship with Rajan Shahi’s team, with whom he had previously worked in Maykaa, they both mutually agreed that he would leave the show. Vineet is still hopeful about working with them on future projects.

According to reports, Vineet is currently filming in Nigeria for an OTT project. The actor will appear in the English romantic comedy On Different Grounds. He stated that since the project was a good opportunity, he decided to take it up and move on from Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. He stated, “I feel proud that I am a part of such an interesting project, and I have a substantial role in it.”

Vineet joined Rajan Shahi’s show reportedly in April as a lawyer. Armaan’s (Rohit Purohit) sister worked as an intern for him. As per the plot, the duo fell in love, but Armaan’s family was against it. This eventually resulted in the storyline taking a dramatic turn. Currently, the show’s focus is on Armaan and Abhira’s (Samriddhi Shukla) separation. Apart from the leads. Anita Raj, Shruti Ulfat, Sandeep Rajora and others play major roles in the programme.
