Bengal Police Promotes Helmet Use With Video Of Virat Kohli's Six Against Kolkata Knight Riders
Virat Kohli is the current Orange Cap holder of the 2024 IPL.

The love for cricket among Indian people is unparalleled. With a new season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) underway, the hype is evident across social media as well. The feeds are flooded with cricket-related content, with fans leaving no stone unturned to show support for their favourite teams. Indulging in the IPL fever, the law enforcement departments of several states have been sharing creative posts to spread awareness about important issues.

Going by the trend, the West Bengal Police has come up with an innovative approach to promote the usage of helmets on roads. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), the department dropped a recent clip of Royal Challengers Bengaluru star Virat Kohli creating havoc with his six-hitting prowess at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The Indian batting icon has been in sublime form in the ongoing season of the IPL.

In RCB’s last match against Kolkata Knight Riders, Kohli once again appeared at his devastating best. He struck an unbeaten 83 off 59 balls, a knock which comprised four boundaries and as many maximums. One of those sixes came against Mitchell Starc – the costliest player of this IPL.

The Australian pacer bowled a slow off-cutter to Kohli, who smashed it over the deep square leg to clear the fence. The West Bengal Police shared the footage on X and added a crown on Kohli’s head. A Bengali text on the video read, “Haar jeet ke hiseb rakhe. Rajar mukut mathaye thake. (Who cares about wins and losses? The crown of the king remains intact on his head).” Since being dropped on the microblogging site, the video has received over 5,000 views while garnering hundreds of likes.

Looking at the match between RCB and KKR, the hosts produced 182 runs in 20 overs, riding on the fiery knock by Virat Kohli. Opening the innings with Philip Salt, Sunil Narine gave Kolkata a blistering start. The West Indies spinner scored 47 runs at a strike rate of over 200 which helped the visiting side take hold of the game.

The remaining work was done by Venkatesh Iyer, who notched a 30-ball half-century. Captain Shreyas Iyer also contributed a crucial 30 runs to the scoresheet as KKR won the match by seven wickets.
