Many young Indians wish to settle in foreign countries, as they get attracted towards a better quality of life. Among Western nations, Canada is the top destination for many. However, the reality of relocating abroad is far from easy, especially when it comes to surviving the harsh Canadian winters. Recently, a content creator from Punjab, who resides in Canada, captured the attention of social media users as he spoke about the realities of living in The Great White North. In a video shared on Instagram, he humourously spoke about the challenges of facing cold to cultural differences. His rant not only connected well with fellow immigrants but his followers back in India were also able to relate. The video left many in stitches, while there were few who shared kindness with the content creators.
He said, “I’ve reached Canada and people here talk so much nonsense. When you say hello to someone, they react as if a bomb was just exploded. I’m making this video in the car, as I’m afraid someone might wake up at home. Everyone is living such a fake life. I’m living like a thief in my own house. I don’t understand why I came here. I’m not exaggerating, look at the weather. I thought I’d spend the whole summer in India and come to Canada when it’s warm, but look at the weather here.”
“I don’t even have winter tires. On the first day itself, my car wouldn’t start. I had to jump start it, but stopped as soon as I reached the highway. I had to spend $250 (Rs 15,000) to change the battery. On top of that, my family back home keeps calling me, saying, ‘Go to Canada to save money and send it to India.’ Which money should I save? No one can save here.” Sharing the video, the creator wrote, “Canada Ne Apne Rang Dikhane Shuru Karte A. (Canada started showing its true colours).”
Reacting to the clip, a user wrote, “Same feeling. I hate it here, don’t know why I came here.”
Another shared, “Dukh mutual hai.”
An individual asked, “Ye dukh kab khatam hoga? (When will this sadness end?”
“Don’t worry everything will be all good,” a comment read.
Another wrote, “That BYE in the end.”
One more added, “Struggle is REAL.”
Since the content creator shared the video on Instagram, it has gone viral and garnered over 4 lakh views.
