It’s customary to blow out the candles and make a wish, but if you reveal what you’re wishing for, it won’t come true. However, to what extent is it appropriate to withhold your wish— what you genuinely desire—from others? Is it wise to be careful what you wish for, as it could very well come true? Things are yours alone as long as they are in your head. You forfeit control the moment your ideas turn into words. Now that it’s in the real world–or this case on the internet, you have no control over what happens to it. That’s what happened when a girl on the internet made a wish and it was granted, thanks to Ankur Warikoo.
Entrepreneur and content creator Ankur Warikoo shared a wishful incident on LinkedIn on May 14. “Ever thought of asking for something on social media AND actually getting it?” the post read.
Warikoo recounted the story, stating that he was browsing through social media platform X (previously Twitter) when he came upon a tweet. It read, “I just need someone to take me to a bookstore and pay my bill.”
He went on to declare that he is completely in favour of limited funding for books and educational materials. He continued by saying that they are an “investment” in oneself that offers tremendous value and would eventually pay for itself in the form of improved prospects.
One of Warikoo’s staff members interacted with the user and hosted her.
“32 books later, the Tweet became a reality!”
Apart from making him smile it also brought to mind one of his all-time favourite sayings: “If you don’t ask, the answer is always no.”
Warikoo also shared the picture of the girl with the books and the screenshot of their chat.
The post has more than 1000 reactions on the employment-focused social media platform.
A user wrote, “This is so inspiring and it proves how using social media + networking can turn dreams into reality.”
Another user commented, “It’s a great reminder that the professional network you build can be a wellspring of opportunity, not just for yourself but for others.”
Meanwhile, a third user said, “Actually made me smile…that’s the kind of Santa book lovers want once in a while!!”
