An Indian Railway passenger recently recounted a bizarre incident on a Rajdhani train on Reddit. Despite having a valid ticket, he claimed the ticket collector (TC) refused him entry into the 1AC coach. Sharing his experience on Reddit, user @SecretGamerV_0716 detailed the frustrating encounter, seeking support and advice from the online community.
He started, “I was travelling with my family on the rajdhani train. I temporarily went out of coach to meet with a friend who was waiting on the railway platform and deliver a few things to him that he had asked for from my home city.” Upon returning to the train, he was stopped by the TC, who informed him, “Sir this is only for 1a passengers, and entry for other people isn’t allowed.” Despite showing the confirmed ticket on the IRCTC app, the TC insisted on seeing a physical ticket, which the user had left on their seat.

“This went on for a good 10 mins until the train started moving when he asked me to get back to ‘where I came from.’ so I got a bit angry,” he recounted. Subsequently, the user shared how his frustration escalated, leading him to raise his voice, prompting the TC to call security and instruct them to escort him forcefully to the 3AC coach. “they asked me to share with a random family and I would be asked to get off on the next stop,” he continued.
Fortunately, his mother intervened and resolved the situation.
Reflecting further, the user mentioned, “I did call my mother but she and my father were sleeping and so she probably didn’t hear it. Only once she woke up could I call her and thats when she came to talk to the conductor. Ik that it was stupid of me to leave my parents alone sleeping, but I didn’t expect these events to happen.”

The Reddit post gained traction, attracting various comments from the community. One commenter suggested, “Only PNR number is sufficient, if they don’t accept that then you can show the eticket on the irctc website. You should have raised a complain, their is an app for that from irctc. Always speak with an authoritarian voice with these morons, let them know that you know your rights.”
Expressing shock, another commenter remarked, “Only physical tickets allowed? What a clown. I have been travelling my entire life with just IRCTC tickets where I had it only as an SMS or email. Thankfully I never had to face such clowns.”

In offering advice for future encounters, a third commenter recommended, “In future when dealing with such morons pull out your phone & record it don’t let them take it record everything then use it against them.”
