How Far Can An Aeroplane Fly On A Full Tank Of Fuel
Passengers on an IndiGo flight from Ayodhya to Delhi attempted to land at the Indira Gandhi International Airport twice but failed due to bad weather.

People consider aeroplanes to be the most convenient means of long journeys. But have you ever wondered how far an aeroplane can fly without stopping? Which aeroplane in the world can travel the longest distance? An engineer has given a very interesting answer on the social media platform Quora.

Animesh Kumar Sinha, who claims to be a railway engineer, said that Google only shows the data of commercial aircraft currently owned by Australia’s Qantas (Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services). Qantas Airways flew nonstop from New York to Sydney in 19 hours and 16 minutes in October 2019. This flight, operated by a Boeing 797-9 Dreamliner, covered a distance of 16,200 km. There were a total of 49 people on board.

When the plane flies from Perth to London, it covers a long distance of 14,498 kilometres, which is 9009 miles. This flight is completed in about 17 hours and 20 minutes.

It holds the world record, but there are many other world records for non-commercial flights other than these two. The previous world record for the longest non-stop flight is 32 hours and 9 minutes. It is from Perth in Australia to Koggala Lake in Sri Lanka. The distance between the two cities is 5632 kilometres. This aircraft flies at a cruising speed of about 113 miles per hour. This Catalina category aircraft has 2 engines. It is a Royal Australian Air Force aircraft. Its last flight was from Ceylon to Perth on July 17, 1945.

Recently, passengers on an IndiGo flight from Ayodhya to Delhi reportedly had a “harrowing experience” after the aircraft attempted to land at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) twice but failed to do so due to bad weather. The incident occurred on April 13 on flight 6E2702.

A passenger on board took to microblogging site X to narrate the “harrowing experience”.

“Had a harrowing experience yesterday with @IndiGo6E Flight No. 6E2702 from Ayodhya to Delhi. The scheduled departure time is 3:25 p.m. and the scheduled arrival time is 4:30 pm. Around 4:15 pm the pilot announced that there was bad weather at the Delhi Airport and assured that the plane had 45 minutes of Holding Fuel. The pilot attempted landing twice, couldn’t due to bad weather and still wasted a lot of time deciding the next course of action,” he wrote.
