A 19-year-old boy, who travelled 125 kilometres to meet his girlfriend, was allegedly abducted and beaten by her friends in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara. Valentine’s Day took a menacing turn for Anurag Jatav, and his rendezvous turned into a nightmare. He was held captive by his girlfriend’s friends for eight hours in a vacant house in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, on February 13 before they were traced by police.
Hailing from Narsinghpur’s Gadarwara in Madhya Pradesh, the 19-year-old Jatav travelled 125 km from home to Chhindwara to meet his girlfriend, whom he met on the social media platform. The two started chatting on the phone, and they got close to each other and fell in love. Jatav and his girlfriend then decided to meet each other on Valentine’s Day.
So, after some planning, Jatav travelled all the way to Chhindwara on February 13 to celebrate the day of love with her girlfriend. However, the woman’s friends — Saiju, Abhay, and Mukesh — stopped Jatav, abducted him, and took him to Saiju’s house. They allegedly confined him for a harrowing 8 hours, until 8 pm, during which he was subjected to physical violence and psychological trauma.
The abductors used the 19-year-old’s mobile phone to contact his parents and asked them to come to Chhindwara. The family immediately sought aid from the Gadarwara police, who then notified the rural police in Chhindwara. The police located the abducted youth by tracing his mobile phone. The team then promptly reached the spot, rescued him, and admitted him to the district hospital in Chhindwara for medical examination and care.
Speaking to the Free Press Journal, Station House Officer (SHO) GS Uikey said that three suspects from Gadarwara have been apprehended and sent behind bars in connection with the case. He also informed that a thorough investigation was being conducted by the authorities into the incident.
