As soon as it was lit, the effigy exploded with great force releasing a gust of smoke as seen in a nuclear explosion. The incident led to panic at the site with onlookers moving away from the effigy.

In a separate incident from Bihar’s Chapra, Dussehra celebrations went awry after an elephant, that was part of the celebration became destructive and wreaked havoc for close to 2 hours in the market. It crumpled several cars and lunged at a nearby bus with the intent to overturn it.

As reported by Amar Ujala, locals mentioned that the elephant was initially at peace but became destructive suddenly. After the local police failed to contain the animal, a mahout was fetched to help. The man successfully led the elephant to a secluded garden so that it could be calmed down. One person was injured in the incident.
