Some people in the world are not afraid of danger, even when they become a victim of it. A man named Jamie Coots ended up in a fatal situation with a belief that he was immune to snake bites. A video detailing his story is making rounds on the internet, amassing thousands of views.
According to the information given, Jamie Coots, a pastor from Kentucky, the US, claimed to have gained immunity from the bite of a snake. To prove his statement, he was called to a show and the man unfortunately passed away. A video was posted on YouTube by a channel called Final Affliction.
The video shows how Jamie Coots was a very controversial figure among the public, for carrying out “outrageous" church services. According to the clip, he brought live snakes to the service and his act was also shown by the National Geographic channel. He and his congregation believed that snake venom couldn’t affect him, a power bestowed to him by God. In 20 years, he was reportedly bitten 8 times and survived the attack. His favourite snakes to handle were the rattlesnakes and the vipers, the more poisonous, the better. So, one day, he was performing his service the usual way. The rattlesnake he was handling, bit him hard. And in no time, he started showing symptoms of weakness. His congregation even asked to call 911 but he refused. The preacher drove himself home, saying he would just pray while resting on a couch. Despite his refusal, the congregation contacted the paramedics and they called Jamie. Jamies again refused treatment, but during the call, they noticed his slurred speech, so they went to his residence. They found him unresponsive and performed CPR. Then, he was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead.
Netizens react to the video in the replies. The first user wrote, “Provoking a venomous snake what could go wrong." Another user wrote, “Play stupid games, win stupid prizes I guess lol." A third user stated, “Never messing with snakes."
