Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Kavya Maran ‘Nailed’ IPL 2024 Auction Like A Boss, Declare Fans
The major signing on Hyderabad’s list is Pat Cummins, who became the first player in IPL history to breach the Rs 20-crore mark.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction is making all the right noises. From Mitchell Starc’s record-breaking bid to Pat Cummins’ Rs 20.50 crore deal, cricket enthusiasts have witnessed some intense bidding wars at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. One of the major highlights of the auction day was Sunrisers Hyderabad owner-CEO Kavya Maran and her brave bidding calls. It was a good day for Kavya and her team as the Hyderabad franchise managed to acquire some exciting deals, preparing a strong squad for the next IPL campaign.

The major signing on Hyderabad’s list is Pat Cummins. Coming off the ODI World Cup triumph, the Australian captain has become the first player in IPL history to breach the Rs 20-crore mark. SRH has roped in Cummins for a staggering price of 20.50 crore. They also secured the signing of Australian opener Travis Head for Rs 6.8 crore.

Besides breaking the bank for the World Cup-winning skipper, the Orange franchise has also acquired the service of Sri Lankan cricketer Wanindu Hasaranga at an unimaginable price. Hasaranga was tipped to spark a bidding war due to his spectacular form in white-ball formats in recent times. Except for Hyderabad, no other franchise though showed their interest in the 26-year-old all-rounder. SRH finally secured the deal at his base price of Rs 1.5 crore.

After Hasaranga was confirmed to join her team, Kavya reacted to the signing with a big smile and the picture took no time to top trends on social media.

One fan was quick to label the occasion of the IPL auction as “Kavya Maran’s Day.”

Another fan believes in terms of beauty, Kavya Maran can easily beat Animal fame, Rashmika Mandanna.

Referring to the signings of Travis Head and Wanindu Hasaranga, a user wrote on X, “Kavya Maran has nailed the IPL auction this time. Absolutely crazy buys.”

Here are some other reactions:

Featuring in the IPL since 2013, Sunrisers Hyderabad have claimed the title once in 2016 by overcoming Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final. Their form was not up to the mark last season as the Orange Army won only four of their 14 league matches, finishing eighth in the points table.
