Watch: AC Unit Goes Up In Flames Amid Severe Heatwave In Punjab
The incident has undoubtedly raised concerns about safety amid the severe weather the country is experiencing.

The rising temperature has undoubtedly become a matter of concern in many areas of the country. While the effects on health and daily life are unavoidable, excessive heat has other negative consequences as well. Recently, a video showing the outdoor AC unit engulfed in flames went viral on social media. This has undoubtedly raised concerns about safety amid the severe weather the country is experiencing.

In the video, the person recording can be heard explaining that the fire was caused by the lack of a stabiliser for the AC unit, which resulted in an overload. The incident occurred in Punjab’s Ropar and the clip shows the outdoor AC unit burning ferociously. The caption mentioned, “Another Video from Ropar, Punjab showing burning of AC due to Excess Heatwave. But another genuine reason is also there for this >Didn’t install Stabilizer to balance current >not having Plastic Shed to protect it from Sun >Continuously using AC for hrs & hrs..”

This incident was shared after a similar disaster occurred in Mumbai. A video of a fire in an air conditioning compressor in a high-rise building in Mumbai has gone viral on social media. The footage shows huge clouds of smoke covering the building’s exterior as flames erupt from the failing air conditioner compressor. Although no injuries were reported, the incident highlighted the potential perils of temperatures reaching unprecedented levels. The caption advised people to “Use your Electric device efficiently in Summer.”

Many users reacted to this dangerous incident. One person wrote, “Actually switching on and off every 2 hr is not a solution, regular maintenance, gas filling is, if you stress the compressor without gas it explodes the same happens with the fridge sometimes.”

Another individual shared some advice with regards to the maintenance of electric devices. The user stated, “Most stress on the compressor when you first turn it on, turning it on and off every 2 hours will cause it to explode and use A LOT more electricity. Modern inverter AC’s work by automatically cutting the electricity when the room reaches the desired temperature but you never turn them off.”

Some also advocated for protecting the environment to prevent such disasters. “AC never required if people stop polluting the environment, cut trees and so on. Take care Nature. Nature loves you back.”
