Now, a video in which Pakistani supporters appear to be hailing India and even shouting ‘India, India’ and ‘Jai Hind’ slogans is going viral.
Shared on the X (formerly Twitter), the visuals were captured outside the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York after India’s thrilling victory. The video also shows a happy fan, dressed in a Pakistani jersey, shouting slogans of “India, India.” Amid instances of hate comments and remarks that often engulf India-Pakistan matches, these optimistic and enthusiastic fans have left the internet in splits.
Some people couldn’t believe what they were hearing. “Why Pakistanis are chanting India?” read a comment.
A few of them shared memes in their replies, while other claimed that Pakistan fans were just shocked by the results.
Sharing their excitement, Team India supporters lauded India’s comeback win, especially Bumrah’s bowling, which changed the course of the game.
The Indian bowling attack, spear-headed by Jasprit Bumrah, took the game away from Pakistan. Chasing a target of 120, Pakistan fell short by six runs, making it two losses in as many games in the ongoing World Cup.
Bumrah dismissed Babar Azam early in Pakistan’s chase before Usman Khan and Rizwan attempted to stabilise the game. Axar Patel broke the partnership, dismissing Usman. In his second spell, Bumrah bowled Rizwan causing the Pakistani batting line-up to collapse.
The Babar Azam-led Pakistan was restricted to 113/7 in 20 overs. They will next play against Canada in what’s a must-win game for them to go into the text stage of the 2024 T20 World Cup.
