Pakistan captain Babar Azam and ace Indian batter Virat Kohli shared a heartwarming moment after the ICC World Cup 2023 fixture between their teams at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The hosts crushed the men in green by 7 wickets to extend their winning streak to 8-0 in the showpiece event. The Indian bowlers produced a collective effort to bundle out Pakistan for just 191 as they failed to match the intensity at a jam-packed stadium with around 1,00,000 capacity. In reply, India skipper Rohit Sharma top-scored with a scintillating 86 off 63 balls while Shreyas Iyer scored an unbeaten 53 off 62 balls, giving India its eighth straight victory over Pakistan in Men’s ODI World Cups.

After the conclusion of the game, Kohli was seen gifting a signed Indian jersey to Babar as the video of the former’s kind gesture went viral on social media. The duo also had a little conversation on the field before leaving for their respective team hotels.

However, the gesture wasn’t welcomed by former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram who said it wasn’t the right time for Babar to ask for a signed Indian team shirt as the men in green had just lost a crucial game to the arch-rivals.

Taking a jibe at Babar during a debate on Ary News, Wasim said if the captain’s cousin had asked for an Indian jersey with Kohli’s autograph then he should have gone to the dressing room and asked for it instead of doing it on the field in front of the cameras.

“Today was not the day to do this. Agar chacha ke puttar ne keh diya hai ki t-shirt chahiye Kohli ki to match ke baad dressing room se le sakte the,” Wasim told during the talk show.
Meanwhile, Rohit became the first Indian batter to score 200 runs in the current edition of the Cricket World Cup. Sharma has so far scored 217 runs in three matches and is third behind Mohd Rizwan (248) of Pakistan and Devon Conway (229) of New Zealand.
Saturday’s innings took Rohit’s aggregate score to 1195 in 20 innings of 20 matches in the World Cup, overtaking Chris Gayle of the West Indies, who has scored 1186 runs. The list is headed by Sachin Tendulkar, who has scored 2278 runs in 44 innings of 45 matches.
