Following the conclusion of the game, Bumrah had an interaction with an ICC presenter Tanvi Shah where he spoke about his temple point celebration that has taken social media by storm. Earlier on Wednesday, Bumrah brought out Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford’s iconic celebration after dismissing Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

The celebration was iconic as many in the footballing fraternity have taken a liking to it, including the likes of Arsenal forward, Bukayo Saka, Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich and more.

Speaking about using it during the Afghanistan game, Bumrah said he found it cool and thus went for it.

“I had no intentions of making it viral or spreading it everywhere. But yeah… It just came to my mind. I had seen [Marcus] Rashford do it as well in YouTube shorts. So, thought it was cool. There is no particular backstory behind it,” Bumrah said during an interaction.

“Usually, I’m very tired to celebrate, but that is one occasion that I did celebrate,” he added.

“I have played a lot of junior cricket on this ground. Since it was a flat wicket, I tried to implement that experience of mine here,” Bumrah told Hardik Pandya in a video posted by BCCI.

“Before getting hit for four boundaries, it’s vital to realise about the wicket right after one boundary. That’s what I was trying to communicate,” he added.
