India Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Indian cricket team’s dressing room after the heartbreaking defeat to Australia in the final of 2023 ODI World Cup. PM Modi was present at the stadium which has been named after him in Ahmedabad to support the Indian team in the mega clash but Australia outclassed the hosts in all three departments to register a 6-wicket win in the all-important clash.

The Indian players were dejected after the heartbreaking defeat as Mohammed Siraj even shed a tear on the pitch itself.

PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah visited the Indian players in the dressing room and consoled them. A photo of PM Narendra Modi holding Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s hands went viral on social media.

Ravindra Jadeja took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to share a photo with the Indian Prime Minister.

“We had a great tournament but we ended up short yesterday. We are all heartbroken but the support of our people is keeping us going. PM @narendramodi’s visit to the dressing room yesterday was special and very motivating,” read Jadeja’s post on X.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Shami also shared in which he could be seen getting consoled by PM Modi. The right-arm quick ended the ODI World Cup 2023 as the highest wicket-taker with 23 wickets.

“Unfortunately yesterday was not our day. I would like to thank all Indians for supporting our team and me throughout the tournament. Thankful to PM @narendramodi for specially coming to the dressing room and raising our spirits. We will bounce back,” Shami wrote.

The result shattered India’s dreams of ending a global title drought stretching back to the 2013 Champions Trophy.

“I mean the result hasn’t gone our way and we know that we were not good enough on the day. But proud of the team,” Rohit said after the loss.

“It wasn’t supposed to be. Honestly, 20-30 more runs would’ve been good. I thought when KL (Rahul) and Virat (Kohli) were batting, we were looking at 270-280 at that point and we kept losing wickets,” he added.
