Prime Minister Modi on Sunday arrived at Narendra Modi Stadium to attend the World Cup Final match between India and Australia that the latter won. The prime minister was joined by Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles.
Australia recorded their sixth World Cup win on Sunday by beating India in the final of the 2023 edition.
After India lost the World Cup Final, Prime Minister Modi took to X to appreciate India’s efforts throughout the tournament and said that the country stands with them.

He also congratulated Australia for their exception win against India.

Apart from PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Minister of State Nisith Pramanik were also present at the stadium to cheer for Team India.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was also in attendance at Narendra Modi Stadium to witness the thrilling match and shared visuals from the stadium on social media.

Earlier in the day, the prime minister wished good luck to ‘men in Blue’ and asked them to ‘play well’ and uphold the spirit of sportsmanship.
“All the best Team India! 140 crore Indians are cheering for you. May you shine bright, play well, and uphold the spirit of sportsmanship,” PM Modi said in a post on the microblogging site X (formally Twitter).
Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone Cheer for Team India
Various celebrities were present to cheer for the Indian cricket team players as they put their best game forward against Australia.
Some of the prominent faces, including Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, and Athiya Shetty, were spotted at the stadium.
In the viral pictures, King Khan, who was accompanied by his wife Gauri Khan can be seen sitting next to Jay Shah and the legendary singer Asha Bhosle.
Australia recorded their sixth World Cup win by beating India in the final of the 2023 edition. They have title wins in 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2015.
India’s Virat Kohli’s 765 runs is the most for any batter in the history of the World Cup. Kohli scored his runs at a stunning average of 95.62 and strike rate of 90.31 to hit three centuries and two fifties.
