German automotive giant BMW is crafting a comprehensive rejuvenation for its acclaimed 4 Series lineup, encompassing the high-performance M4 Coupe.
Vigorous testing of prototype models for this upgraded performance coupe is currently underway on public thoroughfares and the Nurburgring circuit. Anticipated to commence production in March 2024, insider reports from Bimmer Post suggest that the revamped BMW M4 Competition Coupe will boast enhanced performance attributes and undergo a striking design overhaul.
As per the report’s findings, the forthcoming BMW M4 Competition Coupe is set to undergo substantial powertrain modifications, adopting a more potent S58 inline-six engine that surpasses its predecessor by an additional 20 bhp. Notably, this added power boost is earmarked exclusively for the All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) variant of the performance coupe. Conversely, the Rear-Wheel-Drive (RWD) iteration is projected to retain its current power output of 496 bhp.
In an added layer of performance distinction, the M4 Competition Coupe’s AWD variant is anticipated to feature a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine, tuned to generate a peak power of 516 bhp. Meanwhile, the foundational model of this performance coupe is expected to retain its current pinnacle power output of 467 bhp, upholding consistency with the formidable performance benchmarks set by the existing model.
Beyond the powertrain enhancements, the imminent BMW M4 Competition Coupe is set to undergo visual transformations, notably featuring a larger kidney grille to replace the comparatively smaller current design. Moreover, the report lacks further details regarding specific design and mechanical enhancements slated for this performance coupe.
As per reports by Bimmer Post, production of the upcoming BMW M4 Competition Coupe is scheduled to commence in March 2024. The initial launch is anticipated to unfold in the North American and European markets, with subsequent releases in other international markets, including India, slated for a later timeframe.
Top Speed reports an MSRP of $77,995 (Almost Rs 6.48 crores) for the base BMW M4 Coupe, assuring those willing to invest in it that they won’t be compromised in any aspect. However, for budget-conscious enthusiasts seeking BMW M4-level performance, viable alternatives exist in the market. Examples include the 2009 Lexus LS 460 and the 2007 Ford Mustang GT Deluxe Coupe, offering commendable performance at a more accessible price point.
