Scheduled to commence on April 1, the admission process for government schools in Delhi will span until May 10. Prospective students seeking admission into classes 6th to 9th are urged to adhere to these timelines, as there is currently no indication of a deadline extension.

With a surge in inquiries, long queues have become a common sight outside government schools in Delhi. Parents are reminded to gather essential information about important dates and the required documentation to facilitate the admission process effectively.

According to the notification issued by the Delhi Education Directorate, applicants must ensure they possess the necessary documents for admission. These include a passport-sized photograph of the student, a birth certificate, an Aadhar card, a residence certificate, and the parent’s Aadhar card. Failure to provide these documents may result in admission denial.

As the admission process unfolds, parents and students are encouraged to stay updated on any further announcements or changes. With proper documentation and adherence to the specified deadlines, aspiring students can secure their places in Delhi government schools for the upcoming academic year.

In response to the prevailing cold weather conditions, there have been adjustments made to school timings. However, with temperatures showing signs of improvement, the Directorate of Education has issued a new directive effective February 6. All schools in Delhi will revert to their original timings, with classes commencing at 7:30 am. This directive applies to both government and private schools across Delhi and is effective immediately.

As of March 2023, the Delhi government oversees a network of 1,250 government and government-aided schools, comprising approximately 22.2% of all schools operating within the region.
